Wild Willow Farm & Education Center is a six-acre working farm, growing vegetables, greens, medicinal and culinary herbs; and cover crops. It's also educates the community on permaculture sustainable farming and on how to live more sustainable. Their mission is to grow food and teach others who want to grow their own food. Promoting to the community an effective means to change to a healthier, locally based food system.
Agriculture is something I’ve been eager to learn and work with for a long time. The idea of staying at a farm and learning even a little about different topics like soil and sustainable foods. To get the chance to support my community in promoting a heather locally grown food system is rather exiting. I really want to learn about farming in a hands on learning experience. With individuals that are experiences with what their doing. |
The JOURNEY Begins
This is on day one of my internship at Wild Willow. When I still didn't know it was taboo to ever step on the beds, just like my right foot is currently doing in this picture. I am hydrating the soil because this bed has been left alone for quite some time and it needed to be ready for baby carrot seeds.
A collection of herds in a basket, white sage, rosemary, lemon verbena, lavender and two other herbs I can't recognize. These are the plant that were right in the entrance of the farm. While I walked in I really like to run my hand on one of the lemon verbena plants and start my day with a placenta smell.
Lunch was something I really looked forwards to, not just because of the food. It was the action of taking the food I was going to eat straight from the source. The idea of farm to table and having such a fresh meal. In this picture on the right we made a sweet peach salad that was one of my favorite meals, second only to Mel's soups.

Email: [email protected]. The Mission: Animal Sanctuary
We rescue, rehabilitate, and provide lifelong care for hundreds of animals who have been saved from stockyards, factory farms, and slaughterhouses. At our three shelters, rescued residents are given the care and love they need to recover from abuse and neglect. All of the animals enjoy nourishing food, clean barns, and green pastures each and every day. Why ?
The idea of staying at a farm and learning different topics like basic farm animal care, vegan nutrition, impact of factory farming on the environment, effective animal advocacy, and vegan cooking. I would be doing hand on work witch I would be more comfortable with. |

Looking forward to
To acquire work experience in the real world, that I can use in the real world, therefor growing my adequacy as an employee. To be able to get a real job, to have money for my living expenses in the future. In order to live a happy life because in order to have the essential for life you need money and to have money you need a good job. So I am looking forward to building up my life now in every choice I make. I also really hope to intern with a non-profit to make a difference in my community or the world around me by supporting causes that are meaningful to me. So that my life can be more fulfilling by serving other or the world around me.
If I do get an internship in the subject I hope for, the skill I acquired this semester that I would like to use during my internship is my observation skills. In order to clearly be involved in the cause of the organization I'll be interning in I need to learn and quickly. So my heightened observation skills will be very useful in making connection and keeping up with the work I will probable be doing. A skill I really hope to strengthen is my social skills. I don't feel like I'm good with people and when it comes to convincing people to hire you, you also need them to like you.
